This little package arrived yesterday from Paris. Who doesn't like something arriving in their mailbox from Paris?? The dreamy photos inside were made by writer and photographer, Irene Nam. I came to know her through Shutter Sisters and when I saw that she was both selling some of her lovely prints and donating proceeds to support Kopila Valley Children's home, I couldn't pass up the chance.
Often when I see someone doing something so magical, I get this overwhelming urge to want to be that, too. It takes a lot to tamp down that well-meaning altruism and enthusiasm and realize that one of the most valuable ways of helping is to find ways to help someone else with their big dreams, with their kind gestures. Sitting here gazing at this tidy little pile of prints, admiring the beauty captured by Irene in a place I might never visit, feels like the tiniest of tiny ways of helping.
I think sometimes it is far too easy to gaze upward and feel so small in the face of accomplishments and dreams that you wish were your own. Maybe you realize you are simply meant to do a hundred little things in a year's time, ninety-eight of which may go unnoticed in the grand scheme of things. If you're needing a little bit of Paris in your mailbox, there are a handful of prints left in Irene's etsy shop.
